SE University Schedule
February 8,
2012 - Cold-Formed Steel - Design Standards, Part I
Speaker: Roger LaBoube, Ph.D., P.E.
March 14, 2012
- Cold-Formed Steel - Design Standards, Part II
Speaker: Roger LaBoube, Ph.D., P.E.
These sessions introduce the structural engineer to the design provisions for cold-formed steel framing assemblies to include walls, floors, headers, trusses and lateral systems. The following information will be addressed during these sessions:
- A more optimum cold-formed steel design can be achieved using the AISI framing standards.
- The AISI framing standards are developed for specific framing systems, e.g. floors, walls, headers
- Cross sections used for cold-formed steel framing are defined by the AISI Product Standard.
- Shear wall design for cold-formed steel walls is governed by the AISI Lateral Standard
Structural engineers who are presently using
cold-formed steel structural assemblies and
engineers interested in expanding their
marketability in both curtain wall and load
bearing structural assemblies will benefit from
attending these SE University sessions.
